二条城: Tourist Attractions near Ramen Uroko Kyoto Sanjo
Kyoto had been the capital of Japan, where the Imperial Family resided in, until the end of the Edo era (also known to be the Samurai era). On the other hand, the Tokugawa shoguns lived in Edo (Tokyo) to rule Japan. Nijo Castle was the satellite residence of the shoguns in Kyoto.
By the way, Nijo Castle is often called “Nijo-jo Castle”, but this is abundant. When it follows something, “jo” means castle, so “Nijo-jo Castle” means “Nijo-castle Castle”. FYI castle by itself is Shiro (Welcome to crazy Japanese language world).
